Schools on Full Lock down

Hello coffee Lovers, The other week I got a phone call that my son's school was on lockdown because of a threat online from another student. Yet it did not last long. It was a bit scary to hear. I get out of a certain area to reduce violence and find out I have to worry even in the nicest city. Lately I have been seeing so much violence and it's mostly kids. What happened to the time where you had a fight and there was a winner and a loser. Which sounds harsh but most of the time they came home alive. I do now that in some places they are used to things of this nature. I lived in NYC most of my life and never had to deal with this. I am glad that the school took whatever threat it was seriously and paid attention to the details enough to keep our children safe. For those who do not know,This scenario involves a serious threat that requires immediate action. The types of events that require lockdowns include situations such as the following: School lockdown procedures require the cooperation of the faculty, staff and students. It can involve this such as The types of events that require lockdowns include situations such as the following: Active shooter Hostage situation Riots Police activity nearby National disasters
And if these things should happen there are rules to follow for example *Lock all doors and windows immediately. If a door can’t be locked, attempt to quickly block the door with heavy items. *Never open doors or windows unless ordered to do so by a safety or school official. Always ask for documentation from an official to confirm their identity. *Turn off all lights, and close the blinds or curtains. *Instruct all students to stay low and away from the windows and doors. *Keep students inside of the classroom. *Silence televisions, cell phones and other electronics. *Clear hallways, bathrooms and any area or room that cannot be thoroughly secured. *Account for every student in the room. *Assist those with special needs. *Remain indoors and under lockdown until you receive an “all clear” from authorized personnel. These are all the following rules in a situation like that. I also know as a parent it is scarrie your first move is to reach out to your children and make sure they are ok. I know because I will admit the first time I heard the message I didn't even listen to the whole message and attempted to call school. Finding out it was not working. I then listened again to the whole message which states do not attempt to contact your school or children for safety precautions. I had to believe that my child was safe and that the staff knew what they were doing. I want to know your thoughts about these rules..are you for them? I think yet it's scary they have these rules to protect our kids and assure that they are doing their best. I rather my kids safety then anything else i may be feeling. until next conversation talk to you lattee.. #schoolfulllockdown #coffeelovers #life #bloggers #conversations #parents #kids #students #schools
