How should you spend that money during the holidays?
Hello coffee lovers,
How's everyone's hot drinks going? I am assuming whatever you are drinking most likely has peppermint or some sought of holiday cheer in your cup.Now as much as we love the holidays many companies love it just as much but not for the reason we do but for the money spent.
I know we love to give to our family and friends and we must admit we wind up broke even before christmas day. I can admit I put a lot of my money where i do not have to but i am learning to be a bit better at my spending.
Do you know according to www.thepricer.org On average, people are willing to spend around $500 on gifts for family members. Now I am not saying that's right about it but it's an advantageous price . I know for sure I spent over $500 and that's on my family and it's just the 4 of us. I am not talking about any of my siblings and so on. I have a confession, a couple years ago I spent over my amount of what I make to the whole family and I broke the bank so much and my credit cards were also maxed out.
It was not a good next year for me because I spent most of the beginning of next year trying to get money back just to survive. Why I am telling you this is because I don't want anyone to go through what I want you to. I did it because I wanted to make everyone happy but I spent over $1500 just doing that. I know that does not seem like much but at the time I had a job that was not paying as much. Think about how much you spend on gifts and the after effect after doing so.
I have been doing better and maybe wanted to give you some tips that will still leave money in your bank account to pay off those credit cards.
How can I reduce my Christmas spending?
Comparing prices:
When you find a gift look at more than one place to see the prices and compare to see the whole has the better price. You might find it cheaper elsewhere.
Avoid impulse purchases:
I know it's hard to see something and you think it's gonna be gone by time you come back.I been there it most likely will be. By just buying without thinking about it or looking up information you can be getting something not worth the price you are paying for it. So try not to.
It's fine to buy cheaper:
Many people think the more expensive the better the gift but it's not always the case. Some cheaper things last longer than expensive things. The children or people do not care how much you spent on gifts, getting any gifts in general should excite them. You can take $40 into say family dollar and buy maybe 5-6 gifts that are great gifts and save you a lot of money.
Look for deals and sales:
When shopping many people shopped already on black friday or cyber monday but there are othee days to shop for. IF you see a sale look it up serif its cheaper anywhere else and if it's good price then go go it. Some sales I will admit are great just to make sure of its sale.
Do not have to buy gifts all at one time:
When buying gifts limit yourself to 2-3 three a check. It helps to not be broke by the end of the month. Moderating your shopping will help you greatly.
Make a list:
Make a list of people you are shopping for and try not to add unless really necessary. Making a list will help you focus on just the people. And not go beyond it unless you forgot someone on your list but make sure you focus on your main people. You get that out the way everything else is just extra.
I hope this helped a bit even if you just use one of these it might help you a lot.Until next conversation have a peppermint mocha kind of day!
