What Is Causing Canadian Wildfires? How can we prevent it?
Hello coffee lovers,
I know it's been awhile but i have been working on my new book coming up soon i hope. I really have been drinking lots of coffee to keep up with the news lately. Of course everyone is worried about the wildfires in Canada, which they should be. It's scary and many people are getting sick. Yet we know about it let's go into the facts of how these wildfires happen.
How do wildfires start?
When it comes down to things like these it can be two main things. It can be heat waves that get too high and apparently thunder strikes.
According to https://www.cbsnews.com/ the wildfire started with half of Canada's wildfires being started by lightning. But it did not stop there; the weather was at a higher temperature than normal. Mother nature took her own course to where we are today.
How do we fight mother nature? The man made fires can hopefully become more aware of what we are doing and have a small chance of stopping them but mother nature is something different that we have to think really hard about.
I think we can change that too but ist based on climate change and many people have spoken more than enough times about climate change to make us aware of what can happen.
Even though wildfires are common in Canada, they have never gotten this bad. The United Nations warned us last year that the number of extreme wildfires will jump 14% by 2030 and 30% by 2050. We should have been paying attention.
When looking at future wildfires try and pay close attention to the weather and all drought conditions, which can affect the flammability of vegetation. Avoid any activities that involve fire or sparks when it's hot, dry and windy.
I know when the weather is good that many people want to go camping and do things like using fire pits and such to excite themselves but be aware of how high the fire flames are and if it's windy it's easy for fire to form other fires. Things like this can help the environment and help the future by being aware of what you do. The mistakes you make when it comes to nature not only affect you but affect everyone one way or another.
Here are some ways you can help now to avoid more fires like this in the future.
5 ways to avoid man made wildfires:
1. Check weather and drought conditions.
If the conditions aren’t right, choose non-flammable options meaning use something other than fire to keep being safe.
2. Build your campfire in an open location and far from flammables.
Scrape away grass, leaves and needles down to the mineral soil. Also keep an eye on your fire and never leave the fire alone.
3. Douse your campfire until it’s cold.
with at least one bucket of water. If you need more get more but use a stick or something to store it around make sure all the parts are not lit up.
4.Keep sparks away from dry vegetation.
Make sure to clear the area around your workspace(place you are lighting fire.). The area should be even larger just in case it gets windy and dry.
5. Practice fire safety Rules.
Make sure you google or get information and things you can do to correctly make a fire without harming yourself, others and nature. Always be prepared.
Yet many of us did not take the news seriously when i t comes to nature and how the climate can change just as easily. I hope now everyone's eyes are open. I hope you recycle more. I hope you use safe ways to make a fire,I hope you would want the world to be good enough to breathe fresh air. This is just the beginning if we don’t pay attention.
Until our next conversation ,i'll talk to you lattee.
